Growing in Faith When Your Life Feels Like a Hot Mess (Christian Encouragement for Women)
Growing in Faith Even When You Feel Like a Hot Mess
Let’s go ahead and normalize something real quick:
You can absolutely love Jesus
and still feel like a hot mess sometimes.
Not a “mildly scattered but still Pinterest-worthy” mess.
I mean the full-on version:
emotionally scrambled,
mentally overloaded,
spiritually tired,
running on caffeine, prayers, and occasional tears.
And yet — somewhere deep inside —
you still want to grow in your faith.
You still want Jesus.
You still want closeness with God.
You still want your life to reflect something deeper than survival mode.
So you show up — late, overwhelmed, probably under-caffeinated — whispering:
“Lord, I’m trying. Please work with this.”
And the good news?
He absolutely will.
Because faith was never about being polished.
It was always about being willing.
God never asked you to be the “put-together Christian”
We sometimes think spiritual growth belongs to people who:
wake up early
never forget devotion time
cry gently during worship
always make wise choices
journal with pretty handwriting
have consistent emotional stability
Meanwhile, you’re over here like:
“I love Jesus but also… I just spilled coffee on my Bible.”
Friend — God already knows.
And He’s not looking for the most organized believer.
He’s looking for the surrendered one.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18
Close.
Not distant.
Not disappointed.
Close.
You don’t grow spiritually by becoming flawless.
You grow spiritually by becoming honest.
Growth doesn’t always look glamorous
Sometimes spiritual growth looks like:
showing up tired
praying distracted prayers
reading Scripture with questions
worshipping with tears
asking God for help (again)
repenting (again)
trying (again)
And heaven still calls it faith.
Because faith isn’t loud performance.
It’s quiet returning.
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28
Not
“Come back when you’ve pulled yourself together.”
Just
“Come.”
Your mess doesn’t scare Jesus
You may feel chaotic —
but He is steady.
You may feel inconsistent —
but He is faithful.
You may feel overwhelmed —
but He is gentle.
Jesus doesn’t wait on the other side of perfection.
He walks with you
in the middle of your process.
He doesn’t say,
“Try harder.”
He says,
“Abide in Me.” (John 15:4)
Stay close.
Right here.
With all your imperfections.
That’s growth.
You’re changing more than you realize
You may not see progress day-to-day.
You still struggle.
You still get frustrated.
You still forget to pray sometimes.
And you think,
“Am I even growing?”
But look closer.
You come back faster now.
You soften sooner.
You recognize God’s voice more clearly.
You crave truth.
You care about your heart.
That’s transformation.
“And we all… are being transformed into His image
with ever-increasing glory…”
— 2 Corinthians 3:18
Key word:
being transformed.
Ongoing.
In process.
Becoming.
Not finished.
Not perfected.
Not polished.
Becoming.
God works beautifully in imperfect people
Moses stuttered.
David cried — a lot.
Elijah burned out.
Peter was impulsive.
Martha stressed.
Paul struggled.
And God still used them.
Not after they became flawless.
Right in the middle of their humanity.
So yes — you can be:
emotional
quirky
overthinking
slightly dramatic
and deeply loved
All at once.
Because grace is not intimidated by your real life.
When you feel like a mess — keep showing up
Show up with your questions.
Show up with your weakness.
Show up with your messy heart.
Show up when you’re tired.
Show up when you’re unsure.
Growth isn’t the absence of struggle.
Growth is choosing Jesus in the middle of it.
And every time you turn your heart toward Him —
even quietly, even imperfectly —
your roots go deeper.
Here’s the truth you need today
You are not failing at faith
because you don’t feel “together.”
You are growing — slowly, beautifully, deeply —
in the soil of grace.
One surrendered day at a time.
And God?
He’s not frustrated with you.
He’s proud of the way you keep reaching for Him —
even when you feel like a hot mess.
Because that?
That’s real faith.
