Confidence to Face the Unknown

Life is a journey filled with twists and turns, surprises, and uncertainties. Sometimes, it feels like we’re walking through a thick fog, unable to see what lies ahead. In these moments of doubt and fear, it’s natural to feel hesitant and unsure of which path to take. But let me remind you of something truly remarkable: faith. Faith has the power to guide us through the darkest of times, to illuminate our path and to fill our hearts with hope.

In Hebrews 11:1, we’re reminded that “faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” This verse sets the foundation for understanding the essence of faith. It’s not about having all the answers or seeing every step clearly laid out before us. Instead, it’s about trusting in the unseen and believing in the promises of God even when circumstances seem bleak.

Take a moment to reflect on the story of Joseph. Despite facing betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment, Joseph held onto his faith in God’s plan for his life. In Genesis 50:20, he declares, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Joseph’s journey was filled with uncertainties, but his unwavering faith sustained him through every trial.

Likewise, Moses embarked on a journey that required immense faith. In Hebrews 11:24-26, we read about how Moses chose to endure suffering with the Israelites rather than enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He trusted in God’s promises, even when the path seemed daunting and the destination unknown. And because of his faith, Moses became a powerful instrument in God’s hands, leading the Israelites out of bondage and into freedom.

As we navigate the uncertainties of life, let’s draw inspiration from these stories of faith. Remember that faith isn’t about having all the answers or avoiding challenges altogether. It’s about trusting in God’s goodness and sovereignty, even when we can’t see the outcome.

In Matthew 17:20, Jesus tells his disciples, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” My friend, even the smallest amount of faith can move mountains. It’s not the size of our faith that matters but the object of our faith—our faithful and unchanging God.

So, as you face the unknown today, I encourage you to step out in faith. Trust that God is with you every step of the way, guiding you, strengthening you, and leading you into his perfect plan for your life. Embrace the uncertainties as opportunities to grow in your faith and reliance on God.

May you walk in confidence today, knowing that your faith in God makes all things possible.
